Squinch is a fictional guard and a minor character featured in the Masters of the Universe multimedia franchise. He first appeared in the twelfth episode of season one of the 1983 animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe titled "Evil-Lyn's Plot". He was voiced by John Erwin.
Biography
Squinch was a member of the Widget race and served as a guard at Widget Fortress. He was young and naive, but had a good heart and was fiercely dedicated towards defending the castle against the likes of the Evil Warriors. He also had a connection to a female Widget named Lara, who taken an interest in Squinch, though the Widget was hard-pressed to reciprocate her feelings.
When Beast Man and Mer-Man attempted to scale the castle walls, Squinch and his colleague Kando poured hot oil down the sides, which caused them to lose their grip and fall. When Skeletor arrived, the Widgets used the Widget signal to summon He-Man for aid.
The Widgets succeeded in repelling the Evil Warriors from Widget Woods, but later, Evil-Lyn disguised herself as a damsel in distress and arrived at the castle walls. Squinch let her inside and Evil-Lyn tricked Squinch into showing her the Widget Mines, which contained the highly valuable and sought-after mineral known as Coridite. Once Evil-Lyn got her hands on the Coridite, she revealed her true identity, and Squinch felt like a fool for falling for her charms. [1]
