Biography

Jessica Drew was the daughter of scientist Jonathan Drew. One day, as a child, while visiting her father's laboratory, Jessica was bitten by a poisonous spider. When Doctor Drew found her, he injected her with an experimental serum. The serum saved Jessica's life, but also gifted her with wondrous super-powers. As an adult, Jessica used her powers to fight against injustice in the costumed identity of Spider-Woman.

Jessica worked as a reporter for Justice Magazine in the heart of a major metropolitan city. She frequently collaborated with photographer Jeff Hunt on various stories. Jessica's young nephew, Billy, often visited the offices and found a way to accompany them on their investigations.

One story brought them to Egypt where Spider-Woman had to rescue her fellow super-hero Spider-Man, who had been captured by a space mummy named Khufu. As Khufu attempted to turn the world's populace into mind-controlled mummies, Spider-Woman found a weakness in his mother ship's design, which forced Khufu to abandon his plan. [1]

Another story brought Jessica, Jeff and Billy to Grand Cayman Island to report on the launch of a space telescope that would be used to monitor a solar eclipse. The Dread Dormammu of the Dark Dimension had his cult of followers sabotage the mission, as part of an ambitious plot to plunge the entire world into darkness. Jessica changed into Spider-Woman and defeated Dormammu's goons, forcing the evil entity to remain in his own world. [2]

Spider-Woman's further adventures brought her into conflict with hi-tech Amazons [3], time-traveling Vikings [4], the Kingpin of Crime, Wilson Fisk [5], and even the Lord of vampires, Count Dracula. [6]
