Amazons

Amazons are a fictional race of warrior women that are often featured in television programs of the fantasy or superhero subgenres. Amazons played a large role in TV shows such as Xena: Warrior Princess and Wonder Woman. Amazons are traditionally characterized as strong female characters who lead a minimalist lifestyle, but subscribe to a code of ethics governing grace, strength and indepdendence.

In the context of the Wonder Woman franchise, Amazons hail from a mythical locale known as Paradise Island. In Justice League Unlimited, this location was identified as Themyscira. This version first appeared in the season one episode, "Paradise Lost (Part 1)".

Kyra, Orkla, and Tarla.

The Amazons were a race of women who hailed from several centuries in the distant future. They lived in a domed city and were led by a benevolent Princess named Deeda. Deeda's evil cousin, Kyra, deposed Deeda and exiled her through a time portal. Declaring herself Queen, Kyra made use of a magic scepter - a symbol of office and declared that she would consolidate her power by holding gladiatorial games. Exactly how this would have helped her achieve her goal is unclear. Along with her underlings Tarla and Orkla, she traveled back in time to the late 20th century.

Using the powers at her disposal, she caused a mental head band to appear out of thin air and placed it onto a lumberjack named Bert. Bert was a potential prospect for her gladiatorial games, but when she discovered the existence of Bigfoot, she knew that she had found a true champion.

Meanwhile, the exiled Princess Deeda found a way to come out of the time stream in this era. She encountered Bigfoot's allies Wildboy and Suzie and begged them to help her defeat her evil cousin.

Although Queen Kyra had temporary control over Bigfoot, Wildboy, Suzie, and Deeda managed to free him, and they took Kyra's scepter of power. Deeda re-assumed her role as leader of the Amazons and the others were captured. Thanking Bigfoot and Wildboy for their help, Deeda took the captured traitors back to their own timeline where they were presumably imprisoned. (Bigfoot and Wildboy: Amazon Contest)
