Notes & Trivia
- William Shatner and longtime friend and Star Trek co-star Leonard Nimoy were born just four days apart from one another. Nimoy was born on March 26th, 1931.
- During the 2000s, William Shatner was the official spokesperson for the Priceline.com travel services company and appeared on many of their commercials. In exchange for his work with the company, Shatner received Priceline stock in lieu of a paycheck, which turned out to very profitable for him. In 2004, Shatner was being phased out of the position in favor of Star Trek co-star Leonard Nimoy, but eventually returned to the company as their official spokesman once again.
- William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy's careers have paralleled one another on several occasions. They both appeared in episodes of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. They both appeared in "killer bug" movies. Nimoy made a brief appearance in the 1954 film Them!, while Shatner appeared in 1977's Kingdom of the Spiders. They both directed installments of the Star Trek film franchise. Nimoy directed Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, while Shatner directed it's immediate sequel, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.
- William Shatner is credited as the author on the TekWar series of novels, and indeed, he developed the concept behind the novels while working on the set of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. The actual books however were ghost written by sci-fi author Ron Goulart. Goulart also wrote the 1985 novel Brainz, Inc., which Shatner used as partial inspiration for the books.
