"The Sixth Doctor, commonly referred to simply as "The Doctor", was the main character in the BBC television series Doctor Who. Played by British actor Colin Baker, this version of the perpetually regenerating Time Lord was introduced in the final chapter of the 1984 serial "The Caves of Androzani". Baker served in the capacity of the Doctor from 1984 to 1986, appearing in eight serialized story-arcs for a total of thirty-two appearances, making him the Doctor with the shortest stint on the original series. He succeeded Peter Davison as the fifth iteration of the Doctor and was succeeded by Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor.
