"Formality" is the eleventh episode of season one of the American teen horror/drama Teen Wolf. The episode was directed by series creator Russell Mulcahy and written by Monica Macer. It first aired on MTV on Monday, August 8th, 2011. In this episode, Allison Argent learns that Derek Hale is a werewolf. Her Aunt Kate decides that it is time to bring her into the family business. Kate continues to torture Derek Hale as to the location of the Alpha Werewolf. Scott McCall disobeys Coach Finstock and goes to the school prom to keep an eye on Allison. Later, Peter Hale approaches Stiles and offers to turn him into a werewolf.
