Rigel VII is a fictional planet featured in the mythos of the Star Trek franchise. It was first referenced in the original unaired pilot episode of the first Star Trek television series "The Cage". It appeared as part of an illusion inside the mind of Captain Christopher Pike.
History
Rigel VII was the seventh planet in the Rigel star system. In 2254, Captain Christopher Pike brought the crew of the USS Enterprise to Rigel VII on shore leave. While there, they became embroiled in a coup perpetuated by the planet's warrior caste, the Kaylars. Captain Pike fought up against one of the Kaylars, but several officers, including his own Yeoman, Dermot Cusack were killed. Several more were gravely injured.
Shortly thereafter, Pike became a prisoner of the telepathic Talosians on Talos IV. The Talosians created an illusion in his mind that he was back on Rigel VII. Attending him was an Earth woman named Vina who appeared in the illusion as a princess. A Kaylar attacked them and Pike fought against it, ultimately killing it when he tricked the Kaylar into falling onto his blade. [1]

Notes & Trivia
There is a song called "Moon over Rigel VII," apparently inspired by a large, natural satellite orbiting the planet. Captain Kirk proposed singing it around a campfire while taking shore leave at Yosemite National Park on Earth with Captain Spock and Doctor McCoy in 2287. [2]
