Peter Capaldi is a British television actor. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland on April 14th, 1958. His acting career began in 1982 and he has remained active throughout the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.

Career

Peter's first work in the genre of speculative fiction was in 1992 when he played Isaac in the television movie The Cloning of Joanna May.

In 1996, Peter played Dinsdale Draco in two episodes of the sci-fi series Delta Wave. He appeared in the two-part episode, "The Light Fantastic". That same year, Peter played Ishington in the fantasy miniseries Neverwhere, based on the book by Neil Gaiman.

In 2008, Peter appeared on the Doctor Who revival series, playing a character named Caecilius. He appeared in the season four episode, "The Fires of Pompeii". Peter could not have predicted at that time that in only five short years, he would be returning to the franchise in a much larger capacity.

The Doctor Who franchise was not quite ready to let go of Peter just yet. In 2009, he played John Frobisher in the "Children of Earth" storyline from the spin-off series Torchwood, which comprised season three of the series.

On August 4th, 2013, BBC America officially announced that Peter Capaldi would be taking on the role of the Twelfth Doctor following that year's holiday special, replacing the departing Matt Smith.
