Matthew Morgan was a fictional caretaker featured in the 1960s Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows. He was introduced in episode 6 of the show where he was played by actor George Mitchell. In later episodes, the character was played by Thayer David. Between the two actors, Matthew Morgan made a total of 31 appearances on the series.

- The character of Matthew Morgan was created by director Lela Swift and writer Art Wallace based on concepts developed by Dan Curtis.
- Actor George Mitchell played the role of Matthew Morgan in only three episodes of the series, but he was the first of two actors to play the part. He appeared in episodes 6, 13 and 16. He was replaced by Thayer David who picked up the role in episode 38 and continued to play the part until the character's death in episode 127.
- Playing Matthew Morgan was Thayer David's first role on Dark Shadows. However, he would go on to play numerous characters including Professor Timothy Eliot Stokes, Ben Stokes, Count Andreas Petofi and Mordecai Grimes.
- Matthew's only known living relative was a brother named Walter Morgan, who lived in the town of Coldwater, some fifty miles away from Collinsport. When Matthew was a fugitive from justice, Sheriff Patterson tried contacting the brother, but to no avail.
- Matthew often called David Collins by the name Davey. The only other character on Dark Shadows to do this was Burke Devlin.
