Maria Castle is a fictional murder victim and a minor character featured in stories set within the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She is associated with the character of the Punisher and first appeared in the "Penny and Dime" episode of Daredevil in 2016. The character first appeared in a family photograph only and was portrayed by an unidentified extra.
Biography
Maria Elizabeth Castle was the wife of Frank Castle, and the mother of Frank Castle, Jr. and Lisa Castle.
While spending a joyful family outing in Central Park, the Castles were unfortunate enough to stumble upon a gangland execution. As a result, the mobsters decided to eliminate all witnesses and viciously gunned down Maria, Frank, Jr., and Lisa. Miraculously, Frank Castle survived. Driven to the edge of madness by grief and rage, he swore vengeance against the criminal underworld and took up a mission eradicate all facets of organized crime with extreme and blood-drenched prejudice. From this rage, the Punisher was born. [1]
