John Clare is a fictional reanimate and a main character featured on the Showtime television series Penny Dreadful. The character is based on the Frankenstein Monster, which was a patchwork being brought to life by Victor Frankenstein as first envisioned by author Mary Shelley in her 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. The TV version of the creature was played by actor Rory Kinnear.
