Hunter is an American live-action television series of the action & police procedural genres. It was created by Frank Lupo and aired for seven seasons on NBC from September 18th, 1984 to April 26th, 1991, spanning a total of 153 episodes. The series stars Fred Dryer as the eponymous Detective Sergeant Rick Hunter as well as Stepfanie Kramer Detective Sergeant Dee Dee McCall along with Charles Hallahan as Captain Charles Devane. Actors Darlanne Fluegel, Lauren Lane and Courtney Barilla joined the cast for the final season of the show in the roles of Officer Joanne Molenski, Sergeant Chris Novalk and Allison Novak, respectively. A revival series was launched in 2003.
Rick Hunter is a detective for the Los Angeles Police Department. Hailing from a family of criminals, he has faced a lot of bitterness and hatred, which he compensates for by his unwavering sense of justice. Hunter will play by the rules, but only if it suits his needs. When it comes to dispensing justice, he is more than willing to bloody his knuckles or squeeze the trigger on his service pistol with great zeal. Its no wonder that Hunter's partners don't last very long; that is until Dee Dee McCall. Transferring from Vice, Dee Dee has more brass than the horn section of the London Symphony Orchestra and can match Hunter pound for pound when it comes to intensity and determination. McCall may not have been Rick Hunter's first choice of partners, but as himself is known to say, "Works for me".
