The Facts of Life was a situation comedy series that aired on NBC from 1979 to 1988. It was created by Dick Clair and Jenna McMahon. The show was a spin-off of the comedy series Diff'rent Strokes, which featured the Drummond family housekeeper, Mrs. Edna Garrett, who went on to become the dietician for the Eastland girls' school on The Facts of Life. The other main cast members were comprised of the school's students, who went on to become Mrs. Garrett's friends and confidantes. The series starred Charlotte Rae as Mrs. Edna Garrett, Lisa Whelchel as Blair Warner, Kim Fields as Tootie Ramsey, Mindy Cohn as Natalie Green and Nancy McKeon as Jo Polniaczek.

Notes & Trivia
- Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields and Mindy Cohn are the only cast members from the series to appear in all 200 episodes. Nancy McKeon did not begin on the show until season two and only appeared in 186 episodes. Charlotte Rae left the series in season eight and was replaced by Cloris Leachman who played Beverly Ann Stickle.
- The TAT Communications Company produced the first three seasons of the series, while seasons four through nine were produced by the Embassy Pictures Corporation.
- The first three seasons of the show were released to DVD by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Seasons four and five were released through Shout! Factory.
