Edosians are a fictional alien race featured in the Star Trek multimedia franchise. In television history, they only appeared on Star Trek: The Animated Series, and were represented by the character of Arex, who was voiced by James Doohan. Edosians hail from the planet Edos and are characterized by having three legs, three arms (a central arm extending from the sternum), and three fingers on each hand. Arex served aboard the USS Enterprise in the year 2269 as the ship's navigator, and held the rank of Lieutenant. He replaced Pavel Chekov as a member of the bridge crew during the last two years of the Enterprise' s five-year mission.
