Donald Cotton was a television and radio teleplay writer and TV show creator. He was born in England on April 26th, 1928. Along with Richard Harris, he co-created the 1966-1967 action series Adam Adamant Lives!. He is only credited in one episode of the series, "A Vintage Year for Scoundrels", which is the pilot episode of the series.

Donald's writing credits for the British Broadcasting Corporation actually began a year earlier. In 1965, he wrote the "Temple of Secrets" episode of the sci-fi series Doctor Who, which featured actor William Hartnell as the First Doctor. Cotton wrote the scripts for seven more Doctor Who adventures up until 1966 including "Small Prophet, Quick Return", "Death of a Spy", "Horse of Destruction", "A Holiday for the Doctor", "Don't Shoot the Pianist", "Johnny Ringo" and "The O.K. Corral".

Donald Cotton passed away on December 28th, 1999 at the age of 71.
