Battersea is an inner-city district in the London Borough of Wandsworth in South London. Battersea spans from Fairfield in the west to Queenstown in the east. Historically, Battersea has become known for it's economic inequity, but exists today as an area of affluence and prosperity.

Battersea has been featured in several notable TV programs such including Ripper Street, which takes place during the late 19th century as well as Doctor Who, where it was the location of the Cybermen cyber-processing facility. A group of freedom fighters known as the Preachers got word from their contact Gemini (Pete Tyler) that the Cybermen's creator, John Lumic had men on the move scouting for fresh victims. The Preachers were right. Lumic had his cronies abduct various homeless people and bring them to the plant where they would then undergo cybernetic conversion. Lumic also had a zeppelin situated on top of the facility, which served as a transmission tower, broadcasting radio waves that would brainwash all those wearing CybusNet ear pod devices. The Tenth Doctor, along with his companions Rose Tyler and Mickey Smith and Preachers members, Jake Simmonds and Angela Price, as well as Rose's father from that reality, Pete Tyler, went to Battersea to disable the transfer station and shut the processing plant down. It was Mickey who became the hero as he hacked into Cybus Industries' computer network, ultimately destroying the building as well as John Lumic. [1][2]
