Arecibo is a municipality of the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. It is located fifty miles west of the capital city of San Juan. Arecibo appeared in the "Little Green Men" episode of The X-Files. It was the site of the Arecibo Ionospheric Observatory control room.

- This was a satellite control room station and part of the National Astronomy & Ionosphere Center. Jorge Concepcion worked here as a controller. The radio transmission equipment received a transmission from outer space, which was really a recording from the Voyager I space probe, originally launched in September, 1977.
