Alan was a New York transplant who began living in Los Angeles. Using the Matcher app, he went on a date with Jennifer Walters at a sports bar called Finley's. He disliked L.A., citing that everyone was phony and stating that he was a true New Yorker through and through (even though he had only lived there for fourteen months). While talking with Jen, Alan began ogling other women as they passed by their table. When Jen started talking about herself, Alan lost interest and began flipping through his phone. As the disastrous date came to a close, they both eye-balled the check. Jen reached into her bag to grab her credit card, while Alan reached into his... to grab his keys. He thanked Jen for buying the drinks, then left to take a call. As he walked away, the person on the other end of the phone clearly asked him about his date, and Alan described Jen as a "six".
