The 23rd century is a one-hundred year period of time that spans the years 2200-2299. In television fiction, the original Star Trek television series as well as it's first spin-off, Star Trek: The Animated Series take place in the 23rd century. The second pilot episode, "Where No Man Has Gone Before", takes place in 2265, while the first half of season one takes place in 2266. The original unaired pilot, "The Cage" takes place some fifteen years earlier in 2254. The season one episode, "The Gailileo Seven" is the first episode set in 2267 and continues on midway through season two with "The Deadly Years". Season two's "I, Mudd" is the first episode to take place in 2268 and continues on through to "The Mark of Gideon" in season three. The year 2269 consists of all episodes from "The Lights of Zetar" until the end of the series.
The animated series takes place immediately following the infamous Five-Year Mission in 2269 and 2270.
